Emails are used by fraudsters to invite people to:
Give away private personal information which can be used to carry out fraud
Open attachments which download malware or harmful software
Click on a link in the email which is a fake login to get the users’ login details for a financial account such as bank
Here is an example donated by community Natwest banker Diane Simms. This email shows the senders address is not Natwest. When you are asked for information check the senders’ email address to confirm it is a scam. Contact the organisation directly in this case Natwest Bank to confirm they sent it.
